DOSBox is close to being downloaded 10.000.000 times ! (total of all versions.)
(Un)fortunately the statistics of sourceforge are down until at least mid august (and have been for almost a month now).
To celebrate this event we have come up with a small contest.
Guess the right date (somewhere between 18 June and 15 August) and win a copy of Dune ("Sold out" edition CD-version). Send an email to contest@dosbox.com with your guess. The winner will be declared once the statistics of sourceforge are back online.
If you want to congratulate us, please use the email address on the Crew page or the forum.

It is again good news for the Mac users of DOSBox.- A new frontend Boxer has arrived. It aims to make DOS emulation easy and configuration-free.
- Dapplegrey, another Mac frontend for DOSBox has been updated to 1.9.2
I've been interviewed by DOSGuy of www.classicdosgames.com. I'm not much of a talker, but it turned out quite alright. |

A new home!
As you might have noticed the url for this page has changed.
We are very happy with the new domainname and would like to ask all webmasters to update their links to DOSBox.
If you encounter problems with the new domain or the slightly updated site, please post in the forums.

It are good times for the Mac OS X users:- Ronald has released DBGL 0.61 which is compatible with DOSBox 0.72. Aside from the possibility to use relative path, a Mac OS X package has been added
- Dapplegrey, a Mac OS X frontend, has been updated to version 1.7. It has a really cool feature (quote from the author) : In the Finder Information window of a DOS application, if you set "Open with" to Dapplegrey, the DOS application will be executed by DOSBox. If that DOS application has been added to the Dapplegrey's games list before, your game settings will be re-directed to DOSBox.
Be sure to check DBGL and dapplegrey out.

DOSBox 0.72 has been released!
This release fixes a few bugs that slipped through when releasing 0.71.
Here a list of the changes:
- Fixed unitialized variable in joystick. (Fixes crashes on Vista and Mac OS X)
- Some bugfixes and speedups to the 64 bit recompiling core.
- Fixed sign flag on soundblaster dma transfers (Space Quest 6 intro)
- Fixed a bug in keyboard layout processing code and fixed certain layouts.
- Fixed Dreamweb.
- Improved speed unlocking when running cycles=max.
- Fixed a crash related to the tab completion in the shell.
- Improved aspect correction code. Should now be like how a real monitor handles it.
- Fixed a bug in the xms status report code. (Blake Stone 1.0 shareware)
- Added a lot more keyboard layouts.
- Fixed crash related to changing the scaler before a screen was created.
- Hopefully fixed compilation on *bsd.
- Enabled auto cpu core selection for recompiling core as well.
- Made the used joystick selectable when 4axis is specified.
- Added some hints for inexperienced DOS users to the shell.
Compatibility should be same as 0.71 and 0.70 aside from the game specific fixes. |
