Perfect in 0.74. (2010-09-11 01:02) |

Just tested this in v0.74 and it runs perfect. Strait forward: burn your cd's to .iso and mount them all so you will eliminate anoying CD-Change msg. Install it and play. I played half way trough the game yesterday and i can only find one thing to point finger at, at one time loading a saved game the "mouse left/right click" didnt work. After reloading everything was fine again. (But mabye this was a game error, not emulation) |

Game working perfectly in DosBox v0.73, mount multiple ISOs to swap CDs (not tested)
Is best to replace the original DOS4GW with DOS32a

I installed 0.72 took latest cvs build from http://cvscompile.aep-emu.de/dosbox.htm and installed the game. All works perfect. Also it's better to extract CDs to the ROTH directory and forget about mounting them.
Playing on 640x480 without any slowdowns.

Try this to get 640x480 resolution :
- Run the game once and exit.
- Find Roth.ini and open it with notepad.
- Find these two parameters :
VideoMode=0 ViewSize=2
and replace the values with
VideoMode=8 ViewSize=0
- Save the file and run the game again.
Found this on the unofficial ROTH website. Nice!

Very Playable (2006-11-11 05:35) |

This game is very playable (movies are full speed and game is at a reasonable frame rate). I found I needed to replace dos4gw with dos32a (both the external dos4gw.exe and internally within roth.exe), otherwise damageable objects became black.
It's a little laggy at times, but I'm sure some tweaking will iron that out. I know there's more work to do because I can only get VGA and not SVGA resolutions.
Other than that it plays very well - Can't wait to relive all those scary memories! |

Running it with DOSBox 0.65 I have had no trouble running Realms of the Haunting at VESA 640x480. I had no troulbe with CD access. There is a small amount of slowdown at some points (not many) but this does not distract from the game. I have an AMD Athlon 64 Proccessor 4000+ so I rekon the game will be 100% supported when i upgrade my CPU in a couple of years. I'd say its 95% supported at the moment. |

I also seem to have problems wih the cd access. if you copy the cd to a folder on the hard drive and run install.exe from there, it will allow you to install the game. If you go for the full install, you can play to the end of disc 1 with full movies and no problems (with the full install it doesn't need the cd), but it will refuse to see any other discs once you get past disc 1. The same occurs if the discs are copied to the HD and mounted as cdrom drives, so it is not a hardware problem.
I suspect that this is what RagerX has done too. |

After months of searching i found a used game box of ROTH. But i can neither install it nor run it with DOSBox 0.63. The game can't find the CD. RaqerX, please could you explain your steps to get it running? |

I've played a few of the first chapters in DOSBox .63 and it's running great. Sound is a-ok as well as graphics and movies, running with VESA at 640x480 on a 2400XP. :) |

I have also played a few of the first chapters and found it to be playable. Sound seems ok and the movies work fine. The game itself is rather slow at higher resolutions but when played at the lowest resolution there is no slowdown at all. Suppose that depends on your computer |

Oddly, running ROTH's INSTALL.EXE under DOSBox .61 causes it to complain about "requiring a newer version of DOS than v5". I don't remember this happening under .60!!
Anyway, getting into the game itself, sound stutters... movies don't seem to work, but if you continuously press escape, you can skip past them. The game itself (i.e. the 3d engine etc) works flawlessly, if slow. VESA mode also works, but you will need a very fast PC to handle it (my 2200XP doesn't!!!). |

Installing RotH through DOSBox crashes the game - or, alternatively, DOSBox itself.

Although the CD drive seems to be mounted correctly, the game complains about not being able to find some data files (which reside on the CD). |
