You need another machine, networked onto your main one.

eg
Main machine 2GHz xp
Second machine P133 win 98

Install TFX onto P133
Make c drive on P133 shareable
Map z: (or y or anything) from xp to P133 c drive
Run dosbox on xp
mount c z:\
cd tfx
run config
run TFX

Not strictly running on xp machine (as dosbox was probably intended), and you do need another machine, but you can have all the nice sound and graphics of your new machine.

Also works with Tie fighter and xwing.

The game don't install itself, with Windows or DosBOX, and you need to install it because it detects hardware changes if you try to use an already installed version from another computer
