For sound issues... (2011-05-14 16:28) malignantpoodle
For those of you with unrecognizable sounds...

Run the winstall.exe file

Make sure the options you want for the game are present (i.e. mouse=yes, colors 16, etc).

Set the sound to; Internal PC Speaker

Do NOT install the game, select the part that says, "Config only". Install. Exit installer and run game.

You will now have great sound. Yes, it's supposed to be PC speaker but the sound and voices work fine and are not using the PC speaker.
Runs perfect in .72 (2008-07-29 01:31) wambulance
This game runs perfect for me in .72

Sound, play speed, and functionality are all ideal. No different from running it on my 486SX with DOS 6.0 installed. No divide flow error as encountered on faster machines in true DOS environments.

I would like to point out however, that the version I've installed is from, "The Ultimate Wizardry Archives". There are several different releases of this title, some without mouse support or lacking in particular sound options. For the UAW version however, this runs flawlessly. As for other releases put on floppies in 1990, I can't say the same as they're untested.
Wiz6 in 0.63 (2004-12-19 23:13) HunterZ
Runs just as good in 0.63. Sound Blaster / Adlib sound effects are still unrecognizable. PC speaker effects are decent but popping sounds can be heard at the beginning and end of each sound effect.

Be sure to run the game at a very low cycle count to keep the animations and sounds from being played too quickly. On my Athlon XP 2600+ I use cycles around 1000-2500 under the dynamic core (should test under normal and/or full cores but haven't)

PC speaker sound effects are now recognizable, although they seem lower-quality than I remember ;) Tweaking the CPU cycle count (lowering it) makes the sound more correct.
