No sound (2014-01-04 01:03) ExplosiveToast
Anyone know how to get sound on? I want to hear the people talk. Otherwise I hear nothing. Ive tried changing the sound options by typing al s in dosbox but nothing.

Seems to work VERY well, if not perfection, almost like the original computers at that time. I remember getting a new computer every few years made this game run a little faster everytime until it won't work right. If you run this game on these settings:

core=normal
cputype=486_slow
cycles=23000
cycleup=10
cycledown=20

It works superb. 13000 is a little slugish in the solar system view and spaceship exploration. Otherwise, these settings work great. I also recommend this dos game to everyone who likes dos games. It's a must play for sure.
Alien Legacy MUST Live on! (cont.) (2007-11-26 23:23) Glytch

THis was way ahead of it's time and the story.. my god the story is mind blowingly awesome... Even more so then the Star Flight series. The guy responsible should be equated to a world renowned Writer.. but unfourtunately gaming didn't develop itself culturally like that.

Well enough needless ranting.. I just wanted to say that eveyrone who loves controlling Space empires & non-linear story-line must chk this out. It's too bad games of this caliber never developed more. With the tech we got these days it'd produce insane results if the industry were to get innovating again.

Anyone interested in this game or similar, drop my a line onmy xFire - glytch96
Alien Legacy lives on! (2007-11-26 23:20) Glytch
Ah yes..the ole' brand of Sierra... a company that used to actually seem to care what they Pub/Dev.

Thank god it can still be found in the hearts of Pirate collectors. look for
[ DOS Memories Project A-D ]
It even includes a couple game trainers by Psychotron. a must for any Cracktro collectors out there.

Alien Legacy is amongst the best & involving games I've ever played. I remember spending weeks on this game when I was a youngster. B4 this I had avidly considered Starflight 1/2 & Star control 2 to be the best in Space Adventure games.

It's no surprise either since Joe Ybarra, creator of Starflight wrote Alien Legacy.

It is my firm belief that this game is truely innovative. especially when compared to the pedestrian entries we have these days, especially in teh RTS market... but even game series such as Space Empires & Galactic Civilization fall far short.
Game Crashes - inherent bug (2007-09-23 00:12) redshift
You probably won't find this anywhere else. I got it from Sierra back when I originally played the game. If you create 3 bases on hermes the game will crash badly when the plotline takes the rebels to hermes to create a new base.

The centrally located base site was supposed to be hidden from your scan and is not. This is not a dosbox problem, the game has a bug. Sierra never did fix it.

Alien Legacy, 1 of the 1st space games 4 doss (2007-07-04 16:18) 11-30-am
This was the first space game I ever played,
the guy who created it was interviewed by a UK TV company shortly after the game was released,
he was saying how he created the buildings by using kitchen floor tiles and also some objects from the garden shed. The original game came on seven floppy disks and took about 35 minutes to load up, I played Alien Legacy end to end sevril times with no cheats because there was no such thing as cheating in those days.
Crash (2007-06-01 06:19) Wandrell
After the turn 3076 the game crashes, but I don't know if it is related to the game or to the emulator.
install (2007-01-07 13:17) ReinoutS
Hi,
I mounted the Alien Legacy CD-ROM iso but the install.exe seems to do nothing, it quits immediately. Any tips would be appreciated.
Runs pretty well (2004-06-20 23:32) Sakairu
I have the cycles at 13000, the frameskip at 1, and it plays very well. (On an athlon xp 2800+ with 1Gb RAM.) The game runs well (CD version), but as another user pointed out, the midi seems to have some of its channels missing. Otherwise, though, the game plays well.
Note (2004-03-07 15:09) Parasite X
CD version starts but crashes after intro. Disk version works fine except for the music that seems to play ok but some of the MIDI instruments are missing.
