real hardware 486 (2022-02-05 22:39) zodiac
To get this game to run on a real 486 DX2, I have to use moslo. The divide by zero error is related to speed of the processor. So DosBox is emulating this correctly with equivalent cycles.
Divide by zero (2014-09-08 06:52) opcode
You still having divide by zero error on startup?
Jetfighter Disk (2012-04-19 19:55) BJSloth
I found my original Jetfighter! disk. The files all seem to be there, but when I try to run in DosBox 0.74 I get error 2003: Integer divide by zero Error
Any hints out there?
Jetfighter finally works!!! (2010-01-13 00:36) opcode
I have confirmed this by editing my ~/.dosbox/dosbox-0.73.conf file and changing cputype from "auto" to "386_prefetch" and it works perfectly.

I am happy this old game works now.
it works in DOSBox 0.73 (2010-01-09 16:19) Petersilientroll
cputype=386_prefetch

:-D
Prefetch queue (2006-08-16 18:24) dsimcha
This game actually works with an unofficial DOSBox build that supports the buggy prefetch queue from early x86 CPUs. I have verified this personally. See http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=12963
Clock Doubled CPUs? (2006-07-20 21:40) dsimcha
I remember reading in the manual for this game back in the day that it will not run on some 486 DX-2 CPUs. I can't even get it to work under pure MS-DOS 5 on any CPU I've had since a 386SX. Could it be that this game makes use of some weird "feature" only found on CPUs that have clock speeds equal to the system bus speed? If so, could DOSBox somehow emulate this?
Game not even runnable (2006-05-22 02:16) mad.and.insane
now it exited telling me in stdout.txt this:
Exit to error: CPU:GRP5:Illegal Call 7
Game not even runnable (2006-05-22 02:12) mad.and.insane
the title screen is not part of the game, starting it as "jf.exe B" will show that it WONT BUDGE at all.
Note: (2005-02-28 23:53) Winter
Doesn't respond after title screen.
