At last! The game installs normaly as it FINDS the mounted Hard Disc and Path at the beginning of the installation process!!!It runs also perfectly!
Fable is now fully supported!!!!

To play the game under DOS, you must copy the following Files manually in your Fable-Folder (C:\FABLE\):
- DOS4GW.EXE
- HMIDET.386
- HMIDRV.386
- Fable.EX_ (rename to FABLE.EXE)
- SETUP.EX_ (rename to SETUP.EXE)
Don't copy the Fable.exe und setup.exe from
your CD - these files are only for the Windows-
Version!
Make Sub-Directory SAVEGAME

Now you must run the setup.exe to make the choice for your soundcard. After this you will have a new file called Fable.cfg
That's it!

The game should also work in Windows XP/2000 without DOSBox, with a small tweak (thanks to Reckless at Vogons for this info).
Run autorun.exe or setup.exe and install the game. Run Regedit and navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Telstar\Fable
Edit the value for 'Path' to match that of your installation directory.
The game should play fine without the need for 'compatibility mode'.

The game cannot find a harddisk during install, so install must be run in DOS. The game then works in DOSBox.
