My thanks to Wyrenth. Setting XMS=false stopped Darklands from freezing when entering battles for me using 0.72 on XP 64-bit.

Running 0.72 in Vista. Try XMS=false in .conf file to prevent game freeze when entering combat mode.

Running 0.72 on Vista. Experimenting showed I had to go to scaler=hq2x to get best video.

Note for DOSbox 0.72:

The game freeze when you enter in combar mode.

Play with DOSbox 0.70.
