.73 (2010-02-08 19:02) Guy
So I have the cd and got it working with that, however once I get to building the cement yard it freezes without fail. I tried uping the cycles and the frameskip, but it didn't help. It ran smoother, but still stopped at the cement yard.
Sound (2008-02-23 04:21) JMX
Hey guys, managed to get the game working, only really had a problem when I told all the videos to play but other than that it's fine. The real problem I have though, is that there is no sound, I'm sure there's a way round this, if any of you could help, it would be much appreciated, thank you.
building freeze during game (2007-04-10 19:16) hmcfarland2003
i have windows xp and just recently installed the game only to have it crash on me 5 minutes into playing it. dos seems to be running just fine so i dont know exactly what im doing wrong.
Version that works on WIN XP! (2006-04-21 20:10) Apollyon
I had the same problems (video and CD-ROM), so I found this site that has a full version download: www.abandonia.com/games/pt/369/Constructor.htm

It worked 100% on Dosbox 0.65! (I have the original CD, but it returns that message "insert CD-ROM" on WinXP, but this version from abandonia works perfect!!!)
CD Problem (2006-04-17 11:15) avair
Hi!
I own the original Construction CD-ROM. I use Win XP. By using DOSBOX I have the "CD-ROM problem".
So I need the no-cd game exe, but both websites mentioned above doesnt work. (http://nugget.vectorstar.net/constructorfix.rar [My browser doesnt find the webpage] AND http://www.the-underdogs.org [I cant find there the game.exe])
So can somebody help me? Where can I find the (no-cd) game.exe?

Tanks

Everything is perfect but... (2005-06-18 15:23) Devil lady
I want to Display all video animations, but everytime it quits and jumps out the game and it says:

Error=Unable to spool file .\flics\HSEGOTHI.FLC

how can I fix this?!?!?
choppy / a few bugs (2005-04-17 10:56) step2ice
The game performs choppy and there are problems with the house builds. Although you can raise cpu cycles to keep your game from crashing when placing certain houses, this makes the game more choppy.
Also I discoverded a bug which locks up the game when you attack a gang with your own gang.
I run DOSBOX on an P4 2.4 GHZ.
Works fine in 0.63 (2005-03-12 07:24) Prutger
Turn the CPU cycles up and you will be able to place buildings normally. I turned them up to 9000 and the game works fine.
.63 freezes on placing buildings (2005-02-15 15:37) DABEAN87
I got a copy of the game from home of the underdogs and applied Nuggets file fix and enabled dynamic core mode and still got the building placement locking up the program.
0.62 is good (2004-11-10 05:22) Nugget232
0.62 works fine with dynamic core mode enabled. No lockups anymore. The download files are now back online, though I believe the command given to mount the cd above might work as well.
"illegal write to ..." (2004-09-05 00:10) MaHuJa
It'll count up to "Illegal write to c0ffffff" or something like that. It would have been much faster if we could tell dosbox to ignore it. Anyway, once it's up there (just wait...) the intro video should show up.

I'm still having problems with placing buildings. Often, it halts in the placement process.

Dosbox cd (2004-09-04 23:07) MaHuJa
From within dosbox, use the command -cd to find the number you need to use. ('n' below)

Then change the cd mount command to

mount d i:\ -t cdrom -usecd n -ioctl

That should have it recognize the cd.
DOSBox in WinXP with Constructor (2004-07-10 13:06) MrGodman
I would like to play the Constructor game in Windows XP. I installed
the DOSBox, and I configured drives, but he is asking for to the
CD and the game not wheel. I placed the CD in
drive.

Folder of the Game: C:\Acclaim\CN
Drive CDRom: I:\

DOSBOx:

mount c c:\Acclaim\CN
Drive C mounted the place directory c:\Acclaim\CN

mount d i: \ - t cdrom
Drive D mounted the CDRom.

C:
game.exe

The game initiates, and later it gives the message:
Error: The CD must be in drive.

What I made of wrong?
still not working (2004-05-09 08:14) Max the Fire Raven
Still it doesn't work. When placing a building it froze. Then it unfroze after switching to the desktop and then switching back, but then it froze again for good. Too unstable to play it! Damn!
works now (2004-05-09 07:51) Max the Fire Raven
I've updated my version with nugget's files and now it works 90% (a bit sluggish when scrolling) but it was missing a .fli and split to command line. Guess it works if you deactivate the animations from the menu. Great great game!
Constructor CD Rip & UniVBE Fix Link (2004-03-13 05:04) Nugget232
OK, I've uploaded a copy of the necessary files to get constructor to work under 0.61 of DosBox.
Just get the .rar (see link below), and extract it to your constructor folder.

Do a full install of the game. Note that this URL is limited to 70meg transfer per day, so if you cant get to the file- that's why.

http://nugget.vectorstar.net/constructorfix.rar
0.61 (WORKING!) (2004-03-13 01:07) Nugget232
DOSBox 0.61 works perfectly for me -fully playable. I used the CD RIP version downloadable from Home of the Underdogs (http://www.the-underdogs.org) and copied the original movies/flics from my CD.

If you own the original CD, try downloading just game.exe from Home of The Underdogs (there is a section there where you can get just the main.exe file).

Either that or email me (nugget@vectorstar.net) and ask for a copy, I'll be happy to provide it to you.

THANKS DOSBOX TEAM!
0.61 (2004-02-08 10:25) Prutger
In DOSBox 0.61 you see the logo's coming, but after the Constructor logo faded away, you keep seeing a black screen and in the other DOSBox screen you see millions of "Illegal write to c0012345" sentences, which doesn't stop.
0.60 (broken) (2003-10-29 23:14) xeros
The same with DosBox 0.60 - the game quits (with or without DosBox) when it should use graphics.
Note: (2003-05-30 13:13) Dan Forever
install runs, but dosbox quits when you attempt to run the game. This is probably due to Protected mode?
