EA Released as freeware, see http://ccgold.ea.com/uk/. also: lots of ports and patches, check out Wikipedia's C&C Article --PidGin128 01:59, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

The DOS version works under DOSBox, but the Windows version may be preferable.

A Vista-compatible version is included in EA's Command & Conquer: The First Decade. However, it has a several minor and major issues out of the box. A guide to these issues and how to fix them may be read here.

Tested the DOS version on Ubuntu 10.04, with dosbox 0.74 compiled from source (make & checkinstall)
auto detect sound didn't work in setup. used soudblaster 16/awe32 for digital sound
then works fine with sound
