Removed Wikipedia Info

I removed most of the old info from this page, as it was just a dump of all the text from the wikipedia article, and you can visit that if you want to. The contribution page specifically says "Game and Software articles are intended to help a user understand how to execute and use programs that might not run in DOSBox easily. Information on how to complete a game or operate a program is not needed in this Wiki, and should instead be linked to other web sites if available." --Culix 18:35, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Removing the 'Ping' Sound

Is this kind of information acceptable on the DOSBOX wiki? It's not strictly info on how to get the game running with DOSBOX, but it is related to configuring the game. Since Ascendancy is old and has no central hub, and since most people who play the game will probably do so through an emulator I thought it might be good to mention here. If you think it should go somewhere else just let me know. --Culix 22:07, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Dunno, maybe state that the ping sound is not a bug of dosbox. It is just a modification you like. So maybe include it on the talk page or under some special header.

Running Ascendancy

Can anyone who has gotten Ascendancy to successfully run share their steps? I am unable to get Ascendancy to recognize its CD. I have tried mounting an ISO as a drive in DOSBOX with both

mount d C:\OLDGAMES\ascend.iso -t cdrom

and

IMGMOUNT d C:\OLDGAMES\ascend.iso -t iso

Neither of these seems to work; when I launch the game it give me the message "Please place the Ascendancy CD in your CDROM drive.". --Culix 18:43, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

I recall that this game has some small configfile where it records the cdrom location. The IMGMOUNT line is the right one, although you might get better results if you create a cue/bin pair of your CDROM --WikiSysop 07:41, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! I got it figured out and updated the page with instructions and troubleshooting :) --Culix 22:39, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
