Jane's Longbow was developed by Andy Hollis (you may know his name as one of the leading flight sim developers during Sid Meier's leadership at MicroProse) and is considered one of the most accurate simulators for the AH-64D Longbow Apache.

The compilation, Longbow Gold, features two distinct Apache models to fly, the original AH-64A and the new AH-64D, along with all four mission packs, Operations Baltic Hammer and Morning Fury (from the Flash Point: Korea expansion disc), with missions from Desert Storm and Just Cause.

Making it work

If you require support for general issues, see the performance guide and FAQ.

Testing

  • Andrew Maltani: Tested Jane's Longbow Gold on Windows 7 in DOSBox 0.74, works perfectly in both 320x240 and 640x480 modes.

Playability notes

  • Use of a joystick: The solution for the joystick not being read properly was found at a fix by a member in SimHQ, in the Joystick section of the DOSBox.conf file, set the "timed" flag to false. If you are also using a pad or a four-axis device, you may also have to set "swap34" to true if your rudder and throttle are being read from the incorrect axis.
