To get the IPX working with this game, enable the DosBOX IPX emulation in the config, then on the first box, at console, type:
And on the second box type:
ipxnet connect 192.x.x.x **(IP address of the server machine)**
Then go into the game, set IPX in the game settings for network play on both machines and bammo, networked Roketz :) Rinse and repeat to add extra machines to have a ton of people playing on the same network. Have fun!
Runs fine, though I can't get networking to work... (2004-12-24 04:57)
Very much playable on my AMD 3200+, once I bumped up the cpu cycles to about 19000 - and likewise on my P4 2.2, when setting the cycles to about 14000.
The game supports multiplayer over IPX, Netbios and TCP/IP, but none of those seem to work under DOSBox. Establishing an IPX connection through the built-in IPX support (IPXNET) works fine, but the game crashes when you try to connect to other players (for either IPX or Netbios matches). The game has an executable which enables the TCP/IP support, but it can't be run in DOS mode. That executable doesn't seem to work under Windows XP either, outside of DOSBox (it complains about a missing VXD file despite the fact that it *is* there).
The free version of the game (available at http://www.bluemoon.ee/history/roketz/index.html) doesn't have the TCP/IP executable, as a short FYI.
