Here's how I got it working (2008-08-24 02:08) Marian
I installed the game in Windows and then did the sound setup in DOSBox. I then edited the DOSBox config file so that ems = false and memsize = 64. There may be other or better configurations, but this one works for me. On my dual core, the game runs quite smoothly. I will post again, after I have more time to play around with the configuration file some more, if I determine anything else useful.
Can't get it to run (2008-08-18 13:18) JKing
I've installed the game and configured SETSOUND, but when I run the game (with "rg") it quits out after blanking the screen with "SET: Out of Memory". Could someone provide configuration options which work for them?

IMPORTANT!
Redguard was a semi-Windows game so unless you got a Windows OS (Vista included) you won't be able to install this game unless you ask a friend to do so and zip up the installed folder.
After installation, you then need to go inside Dosbox and go inside the SOUND folder, and enter SETSOUND.EXE to set up your sound card. The rest works fine, even in high resolution. Be warned, you'll need a powerful system.
Works fine ! (2008-05-01 14:23) Sharpshooter
I installed the game from Windows (no 3dfx) and copy the directory in my Dosbox dir with Linux.

Indeed the camera always rotated. I just unplugged the joystick and now it works fine (with 80 000 cycles). Videos Sound works fine with soundblaster settings.

The game is fast enough.
I get different results... (2008-01-07 08:24) artician
Would love to know how you got this to work. Installing from windows and then running from DOSbox only results in "this program cannot be run from DOS mode" messages for me. I, too, have been waiting to play this game for years. Any help is greatly appreciated. :)
Update (on "It works! but...") (2007-04-25 04:57) Rainmak3r
I set the sound using SETSONUD in the sound folder of the game, and now sound works and the main character doesn't twist anymore!
I managed to play the beginning fight scene just fine, so I think the game can be considered at least "playable".
I'll try to play throughout the whole game (it's years I wanted to), and I'll update the page consequently.
It works! but... (2007-04-25 04:41) Rainmak3r
I installed the game (software version, not 3dfx) using the Windows installer, and then linked the installed game in my dosbox folder.
The game runs fine, the video quality is nice (still no sound, I have to understand why), but the main character twists on itself and is almost uncontrollable.
However, another successful hit for DOSBox ;)

Game just sticks on a blank screen.
