I had the same problem I think the solution is to extract the .001 file before installing

Works Perfectly on 7.1 (2008-03-24 00:09) Manton
Played the game from start to finish with Dosbox running on my old desktop computer. Worked perfectly - sound, graphics etc.

You can even apply some graphics filters via dosbox config file to make it look a lot smoother and it still runs fine.
Lockup exiting tactical.exe (2006-12-10 09:29) Drengor
Having an issue with Xcom2 locking up exiting tactical battles. It's after it writes out the results, so can resume by simply running the geoscape "1" to pick up where it left off. Have taken to making dosbox run at lower priority though so can endtask it easier when it happens.

Using DosBox .65 on Win2k. AMD Athlon 64, Ddraw, sb16, general midi.

Original xcom runs fine btw.
Wonderful (2006-04-07 00:51) Trehek
I love the way this game plays with all the old bugs, like having an aimed shot accuracy at 135% and still missing on 3 consecutive shots (I think the game miscalculates Line of Fire in certain partial cover situations). Also, I found that if the mouse hangs when a new section of base is placed, you can get it working again by tweaking the CPU cycles up and back down a bit. Something you couldn't do on the old dos :D
to slow :( (2005-01-01 13:57) jensior
nahhh its to slow on 0.63... 16mb ram, cycles: 10 000, cpu core: normal, frameskip: 0... intro is good, menu is good but geoscape and tactical is sloooow :(
v0.62 Working Better (2004-09-30 12:24) teshia
Changed cycles to 10000 and movies run smooth without stutter and game plays excellent now.
v0.62 Works Fine (2004-09-30 10:01) teshia
On a P4-2800 with 512 MB of RAM I'm using the following settings in my xcom2.conf file and cutting out the unnecessary stuff: machine=vga, cycles=15000, sblaster=true. Runs a tad slower than X-Com 1 does, but it's more than workable. Run SETUP.EXE and choose Sound Blaster Pro, Port 220, IRQ 7, and DMA 1 for the Sound Setup. Then choose Adlib/Sound Blaster for the Music Setup.
Hangs when starting a mission (2004-07-13 11:21) fanopanic
On my box the screen goes blank when starting a mission, I can only escape it using Ctrl+F9. I noticed that the world view and the mission view are two seperate .exes. Any ideas?
Runs perfect with full sound and music! (2004-02-08 06:48) Strife
Set DOSBox's Sound Blaster settings to base=220, irq=10, and dma=1 (thanks again to jizang for this tip!).
In TFTD, use Sound Blaster Pro for sound fxs and music (be sure to enable the swap channels setting in sound fxs). If you sound card supports it, you could set the music to General MIDI which sounds great.

Have fun!
Now playable (2003-10-15 19:58) ceciltyme
The game now seems to run perfect under version 0.60. Again Geoscape and Battlescape both seem to work fine, but without extended testing I only give it a 99% rating.
