How Things Work in Busytown - Novotrade (1994)
Tested By: noisyparker

runnable  -  playable  -  supported
100% (supported)
  DOSBox version: 0.74-3 (supported)

Part 2 of setup howto (tested on WinXP and Win7) (2012-11-10 01:13) noisyparker
6) I copied the shortcut to my desktop and renamed it to "HTW Busytown"
7) Click the shortcut to run the game
8) The first time you run it, it will prompt you for some settings. Use the down arrow to highlight the Sound System setting (it starts as "No Sound" by default), use the right arrow to select "Sound Blaster 16". Arrow down to OK and select that. On the next screen, just select OK to take the defaults. This will create a HTW.PRE file in your Busytown folder (so that you will not need to be asked about the sound card in the future).
9) The game starts. BTW, you can use the Esc key as a shortcut to exit things in the game.

NOTE: I think the game looks better -not- in fullscreen, but fullscreen is probably a better play environment for a wee one than windowed mode.

If you tweak your dosbox.conf in a way that makes things run/look better, be sure to update with your improvements! :)

(I'll paste my setup howto in two comments)
Part 1:
1) Copy the HTW folder from the install CD into C:/Games/
2) I copied HTW.ICO from the install CD into my copied HTW folder
3) In the directory I have DosBox installed in, I opened the options file (which brought it up in Notepad), and then saved that as dosbox.conf file in my C:GamesHTW folder.
4) I opened the Busytown dosbox.conf with Notepad and...
4a) Changed these values:
fullscreen=true
cycles=10000
4b) Added these lines to the end (in the [Autoexec] section:
mount c c:Games
c:
cd HTW
htw
exit
4c) Saved the file and exited Notepad
5) I created a shortcut to dosbox.conf, right-clicked on that, and opened Properties...
5a) In the General tab, I Changed the "Opens with" to point to the DosBox Emulator
5b) In the Shortcut tab, I used Change Icon to set it to the one in the HTW.ICO file.
